This Privacy Policy describes how Topter ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
- Email address (used for authentication)
- Name, city, and school name (optional profile details)
- Firebase Authentication UID
1.2 Study Data
- Subjects and topics you create
- Study session records (duration, difficulty ratings, timestamps)
- Revision schedules and spaced-repetition intervals
- Daily streaks and usage statistics
1.3 Device Information
- Device type and operating system version
- App usage analytics (crash reports, feature usage)
- Push notification tokens (for study reminders only)
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide core app functionality (tracking topics, scheduling revision, focus timer)
- To sync your data across devices (when signed in)
- To send study reminder notifications (only if you enable them)
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
- To display personalised streaks and progress stats
3. Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored securely using Firebase and AsyncStorage (local device storage)
- All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
- We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties
- Analytics data is anonymised and cannot identify you personally
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services:
- Firebase (Google) - Authentication, cloud database, and analytics
- RevenueCat - Subscription management and purchase validation
- Google Mobile Ads - Advertisements (free tier users only)
Each of these services has their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data required for their functionality.
5. Your Rights
- Access: View all your data within the app (Library, Profile, Settings)
- Delete: Delete individual topics, subjects, or your entire account from Settings
- Export: Contact us to request a copy of your data
- Opt-out: Disable notifications and analytics in Settings at any time
6. Children's Privacy
Topter is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
7. Account Deletion
To delete your Topter account and all associated data:
- Open the Topter app on your device
- Go to Settings (from the top-left menu)
- Scroll down and tap "Delete All Topics" — this removes all your study data
- For full account deletion (including your Firebase Auth profile), email us at toptersupport@gmail.com with the subject "Delete My Account"
- We will delete all your personal data within 7 days and confirm via email
What is deleted: email, name, city, school, exam goal, all topics, sessions, and revision schedules.
8. Data Retention
- Active account data is retained as long as your account exists
- Deleted topics and sessions are permanently removed within 30 days
- Account deletion removes all personal data within 7 days
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. You will be notified of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of Topter after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
By using Topter, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
